The fear of the grandfather and the snake phobia
The old man develops the fear shortly after the star falls down, because it reminds him about the superstition that people believed that if a stsr falls it symbolised the death of someone.As this man was very old and he thinks of his wife death, i think this stimulate the fear of death in his mind.I think its very normal for a person to think that way because death is something scarely and anything related to that will create fears on someone.Snake also makes people fear for example if you are busy watching the movie and then the snake appeared on the screen you will probably develop fear that sometimes you will turn it off.

I agree with your point that it was normal for the old man to fear death. From my point of view on the story, grandfather was scared of leaving his grandson because he would like to take care of him for some more years. The death of his wife letf him the only one to be responsible for little Richard.
ReplyDeleteHi Nelly! I 've read you post about fear but I'm dissagree with you because from my point of view I think grandfather's fear was abnormal. You said dealth is scary but to me death is scary if a person is in pain e.g if she/he is sick because if you are sick what you are expecting is death or Live,grandfather's fear was about superstition. thank you!
